Islandwide Express opened Islandwide Logistics as the latest step in its two-year restructuring plan. Thanks to this new venture, the company expects to grow more than 30% this year. “By opening Islandwide Logistics we’re just following the logical route; we’re going where the market is taking us,”said Pedro J. Rosaly, president of Islandwide Express, adding that “this sister company will complement the services offered by us.” Both companies are divisions of P.J.R. Company.
While Islandwide Express is dedicated to offering integrated distribution services, Islandwide Logistics will provide supply chain solutions, such as distribution management, planning and inventory control, facilities management, pickup and delivery, multiclient transportation and distribution services, consulting, storage and forwarding.
Luis “Tito” Bellaflores, the general manager of Islandwide Logistics, told CARIBBEAN BUSINESS that the inauguration of this sister company represents intelligent diversification. “We are satisfying a need in the market,” said Bellaflores, adding that this new company can help small companies that are just starting out. “Small companies don’t have to invest in warehouse operations or worry about inventory control,” he said. By delegating warehouse operations and inventory control to Islandwide Logistics, clients can concentrate on their core business.
The inauguration of this new sister company is the latest step in Islandwide Express’ restructuring plan. During the first stage of this process, the company refocused its human resources, invested in package sorting systems, electric conveyors and information systems, implemented an online tracking system, expanded its facilities, and formed strategic alliances with international distribution companies.
